Since using the NHS black card I have been able to get back over £200 in the last year alone. A great way in these difficult financial times to make your money go further.
I saved £150 on my shopping at B&Q. The card is simple and easy to use and there is always someone to help via the hotline or email.
The cashback earnt is a real bonus - I have always shopped at Sainsburys but now I get a pleasant surprise everytime I top up my card - this is in addition to the usual Sainsbury Reward card points.
By paying with my Black Card I have received £131 cashback so far this year on routine purchases.
It gives me better control of my budgeting for the month. If there is not enough money on the card, you cannot go overdrawn.
It is for NHS staff and their family which makes it a perk of the job.
I use my card mainly at Argos and Sainsbury for my weekly shop although I have used it quite often at M&S and Boots as well. Every time I use it I think about how the few pence I save has soon mounted up to over £100.

Eligibility
- You need to be a UK resident
- You need to be working for nhs
Verification
- We need to verify that you are currently working for the NHS
- You will need a valid .nhs.uk or @nhs.net or doctors.org.uk or doctors.net email address. If you supply us with one of these email ids during your card application, we will send you an email with a verification link, which you need to click on to proceed with your application.

- Verification is only required for the primary card holder. You can apply for a partner card, without any further verification. Your partner card holder does not need to work for the NHS.
Cost of getting a card
- If you use a discount code you can get the card at cost price of £2.99 (including p&p) Each card will be valid for 2 years. Discount codes are supplied by participating NHS Trusts to their staff. To obtain a discount code, please contact your trust HR department. If they do not have a discount code set up, they will need to contact zoe@nhscashback.co.uk.
- If you can't get a discount code, you can still purchase the card for £9.99
Topping-up the card
- Standard top up takes 4 working days and is free if over £200. If under, a 40p admin fee applies
- Same day top up is instant and can be processed with a £2.50 fee
- To make the top-ups easy and free, we would recommend setting up a regular payment from your debit card or a standing order. This can be done after you receive the card within your online account

What is the NHSCashback Black Card?
The NHSCashback Black Card is a pre-paid debit card (NOT a credit card) that can be used
anywhere in the world where you see the MasterCard® Acceptance Mark. Registration for the card is quick and easy. No credit checks. Minimum top up amount is £10 and maximum is £1,000 and the first top up is required when you register for the card. Activate the card when you receive it and start spending/continue topping up! You can top up your card securely via your online account portal at www.nhscashback.co.uk/card. Once the funds have cleared on your card account, you can use the card and spend the balance as you would with any other debit card. In fact, it's exactly the same as using any other debit card except you will start to accumulate cashback when you spend at our retail partners.
Can I register straight away?
Yes, you are eligible as long as you are employed by the NHS and have an NHS e-mail address.
Do I have to pay to have an NHSCashback Black Card?
Yes. The fee is £2.99 with an employee discount code. To obtain a discount code, please contact your trust HR department. If they do not have a discount code set up, they will need to contact Zoe@nhscashback.co.uk - if you can't get a discount code, you can still purchase the card for £9.99
How do I earn cashback using the NHSCashback Black Card
Simple. Get your card. Make sure it's topped up with funds. Start spending online or in-store at our partner retailers to accumulate cashback and when you next top up, the cashback you have earned will automatically be credited to your account. It usually takes about 5 - 7 days for your cashback purchases to be processed so please don't worry if not all of your cashback appears if you top up quite soon after you have spent. The exception is Sainsbury's due to their process for calculating cashback and this can result in a longer timeframe which could be 3 - 4 weeks. Where possible, we will always credit your account as soon as we are advised of the cashback to be awarded.
Can I get an additional card on my account?
Yes, you can get an additional card with the same benefits as long as it's for someone in the same household as you. Tick the Would you like an additional card box when you register or alternatively, you can order one via your online account at www.nhscashback.co.uk/card. Additional card fees apply.
How do additional cards work?
You both share one account and spend from one account balance. Top ups can be made by either of you. Both cards are sent separately and need to be activated by each card holder. Once they are activated, both can use the cards at partner retailers earning cashback as you spend. Cashback is credited to the account as and when it is topped up.
Where can I use my card?
Your card is accepted anywhere you see the MasterCard Acceptance mark which is at over 26 million retailers worldwide. It's just the same as using any other MasterCard debit card.
Can I use it for shopping on-line?
Yes your NHSCashback Black Card is accepted at most on-line retailers. You can also use it in-store or on the telephone. It's just the same as using any other MasterCard debit card.
Can I access my account on-line?
Yes. When you have registered, you will be sent a user code and pass code by email. Keep this safe as you will need it to access your online account in the future. Your online account can be accessed at www.nhscashback.co.uk/card 24 hours a day. You can edit your personal details, top up your card, check your statement/balance/cashback earned & pending as well as set up SMS balance alerts.

You can top-up your card online via your online account at www.nhscashback.co.uk/card 24 hrs a day.
How long will my cashback take to show on my NHS Black Card account?
Start spending online or in-store at our retail partners to accumulate cashback and when you next top up, the cashback you have earned will automatically be credited to your account. Is there a minimum spend required to receive my cashback?
No, there is no minimum spend to receive your cashback. You just need to make sure you have sufficient funds on your card before you start spending.
How do I get local discounts using my NHSCashback Black Card?
In addition to the cashback you earn, the NHSCashback Black Card also carries a unique "money saving card" logo. More than 4500 local businesses have signed-up to the scheme. These retailers recognise the "money saving card" logo and will give you the agreed discount when they see the logo on your card as you present it for payment - click here for the full list of local discounts
Do I still receive loyalty points i.e. Nectar or Advantage?
Yes. All other retailer loyalty schemes and offers can be used alongside your card giving you even more value when spending with the NHSCashback Black Card.
What happens if my card is lost or stolen?
You must notify us immediately if your card is lost of stolen. Please call 0845 051 2186 and select option 3 for lost and stolen cards. You should treat this card as cash in your wallet or purse. There is a £10 replacement charge unless you have a valid police crime reference number.
What happens if I forget my PIN?
This is the 4 digit PIN you were given when you activated the card over the phone. If you need a reminder, please call the NHS Cashback hotline on 0845 051 2186 and select option 4 for forgotten pin.
Can I use my card abroad?
Yes. You can use it wherever the MasterCard Acceptance Mark is displayed. As with most payment cards, there is a 4% foreign exchange fee which will apply to every purchase and you will not qualify for cashback when spending abroad.
Can I use my card to withdraw cash?
No. Your card cannot be used for cash withdrawals at ATMs, for purchasing foreign currency, cash advances or cash back at the till.
Are there any restrictions on where I use my card?
There are a few restrictions such as gambling and adult websites please see the Terms and Conditions for more information.
Will I earn cashback on petrol?
No. You also do not earn cashback on non-petrol items purchased at petrol stations.
Will the range of retailer partners and their cashback rates change?
Occasionally we do add or remove new partners but always aim to offer a comprehensive range of outlets where you can earn cashback. Whilst we can't rule out any change governed by market forces, we will endeavour to maintain our current rates wherever possible. Please check the web site which maintains an up to date listing and any amendments to the retail partner list and cashback rates.
Does it cost anything to top-up my NHSCashback Black Card?
Standard top up: It is free when you top up over £200 however there is a small admin fee of 40p if it is under £200. The money will leave your bank account immediately and will take 4 days to clear and be available on your NHSCashback Black Card.
Instant top up: You can also request an `instant` top up where the funds are available immediately - this will cost £2.50.
We would recommend you set up a regular payment from your debit card or standing order for your top ups to take away the hassle. The 'Top Up Card' tab on your online account gives you a full breakdown of your top up options and any charges that are applicable or please see our Terms and Conditions on the web site for full fees chargeable which will always reflect the most current version.
Does it cost me anything to use my NHSCashback Black Card?
No - there are no transaction costs involved with the NHSCashback Black Card when used in the UK. For charges relating to use outside the UK, please refer to the Terms and Conditions.
Will there be a credit check?
No, there are no credit checks or lengthy application process. You fill-in an online form and apply instantly. We may use Personal information provided by you in order to conduct appropriate anti fraud checks. Personal Information that you provide may be disclosed to a credit reference or fraud prevention agency, which may keep a record of that information.
